A guilty pleasure when I'm feeling stressed and aggressive. Not to be listened to while driving the I-580 in rush hour. ;)

The Hexx

by Pavement on Terror Twilight

This track has a kick-ass guitar crunch build-up that leads into the chorus. I always have to turn up the volume at that point (see ~1:30 into the track).

One of my all-time favorites. I remember laying on the floor listening to this album as a kid. Love it.

Gone Forever

by Ulrich Schnauss

reviewed by maverickn

Melodic, downtempo ambience. Layers of pads and simple themes that when combined are greater than the sum of its parts. Simultaneously beautiful and wistful as is most of Schnauss' work.

Nice Weather For Ducks

by Lemon Jelly

reviewed by maverickn

Strange lyrics, but a nice blend of acoustic guitar riffs, trumpet melody, wah pedal and simple bass groove over some latin percussion give this piece a unique and danceable quality.

Cosmic Square Dance

by Chet Atkins

Only Chet Atkins can blend country fingerpickin', jazz chord-melodies, and latin beats together and actually make it sound awesome.

Jurassic Shift

by Ozric Tentacles

reviewed by maverickn

I love this instrumental piece. It fuses a driving hard rock beat and distorted guitars with new age elements such as sweeping synth pads and flutes. At the same time it also reminicent of keyboardist Rick Wakeman and some of the jam bands of the 70's.

M.I.A. sure is weird and I feel a bit funny listening to it. But I find I kinda want to hear it again. And I have no idea why.

La Villa Strangiato

Steve Morse doing a cover of an instrumental Rush tune can't be anything but cool.

What is tunelog?

Think of tunelog as your music data repository. Not storage for your music itself, but for all the data about your music. What you own, what you play, how you rate everything, how you tag everything...your reviews, your watch lists, your stats, your data. What your friends are playing. What your friends are saying about their music.

It's all open; we've got an API to get to all your data so you can do exciting things.

In the end, what tunelog becomes is up to you: it's what you decide to do with your music data.

There is a new version of the iTunes tool for Windows. A nice new feature is that it will tell tunelog if you skip a track. On the website, the track won't show up in your recently played list after it's been skipped. The new iTunes tool also offers an option to run the tunelogger on startup.

You can now comment on your own music - this used to be blocked. Not anymore. Also a major fixup on international character support.
